Cork Photo starts this week with lots of exhibitions and events to keep you busy throughout July. The festival officially launches in Camden Palace Hotel at 7pm on Friday 3rd July. This year’s launch event also sees the opening of Cork Photo HQ exhibition. Showcasing a variety of styles, techniques and approaches the exhibition is testament to the versatility of the photographic medium and it’s ability to communicate thoughts, ideas, and narratives. Participating Artists : Orla O’Byrne, Colin Aherne, James Parkin, Chloe Lelliot, Martin Seeds & Joan Alexander.
Isle of Man 2004 – 2015. “Don’t pass on the stairs, never bring an elephant into the house and pin the devil for all lost things.” Naomi is a photographer from the Isle of Man living and working in County Cork. You can find her running the Darkroom in Camden Palace Hotel.
The last day of Between Seeing and Blindness also talk by BiAs part of our current exhibition, Between Seeing and Blindness, TACTIC will host artists talks, followed by a Q&A. The line-up of talkers at the event on Thursday are; Billy Dante- exhibition curator, Kevin O’Shea- Visual artist, Paul Casey- Poet and founding director of Ó Bheal, Cork’s weekly poetry event, located in The Hayloft bar, above The Long Valley and Bren Smyth- Visual artist.
